So, this past weekend, I did something I rarely do outside of the church walls: I listened to live music! I happened to be a bluegrass band, and they were pretty awesome. There was a cello, a banjo and a guitar, just three people, but they did pull a couple of us to sing with them, and that was fun! They were as much fun to watch as they were to listen to! There hands were flying over the string so fast, they were a blur! I should have looked to see if there was a boomerang looper laying around, but I didn’t.

Listen guys, you gotta tell me when the blog goes awol! I stay logged into the admin panel all the time, and tat means I can see it even if you can’t. This time, it wasn’t my fault, I swear. My host had an issue and reset all the ftp passwords. What thy didn’t bother to say was that we had to log into the ftp with said new passwords so our sites would be publicly visible again. Luckily, this blog was the only one affected, at least as far as I can tell. Perhaps I need blog insurance. Sorta like rv insurance, only I want to make sure it *doesn’t* go anywhere!

That’s a rather quick version of “How are you doing?” for those who don’t speak Cass. Did you have a good Christmas? Are you glad it’s over? Me too, me too.

Here’s my deal. I am going back to school tomorrow. I know I haven’t said anything here since, what? August or something? Right before I went back to school for fall?? Anyway. I have missed blogging, but I truly lack time and motivation to put fresh and interesting content up on six blogs several times per week. So, from now on, most of my blogging will happen over at Midlife Musings. Yes, even the crafty stuff. Sorry. The good news is that you can once again read about my crafting, my cooking, my kids and my crazy life pretty much in one place. Only that place isn’t here, it’s there. This blog will stay up, because I’m sorta attached to it, but the content….well, you know the drill, right?

Heat Frustration

So, it’s too hot to knit. It’s too hot to go dig my beads out of the shed. And my dog isn’t here to play with me. What’s a girl to do? That’s right, SHOP! So, this morning, I have been checking out the Personal Creation store. I don’t think I am too old for a personalized backpack set, am I? I could use it for a knitting bag, and put my needles in the pencil case. And everyone needs a cute lunchbox, right? I want the little mint green one with butterflies on it!

One Month Off

Starting Friday afternoon, after cramming TWELVE credit hours into 9 weeks, I will have a month off of school. No, I do not plan to spend it with a massage therapy program online. I plan to do some reading, and some writing and some crafting. I haven’t quite made up my mind what kind of crafting to do, because I don’t know yet if I will be traveling or not.

Lots of possibilities, though: needlepoint, beading, cross-stitching. Anything but knitting, LOL. We can talk about that again in September!

So Knitters

Tell me which you would rather discuss: cables or sd memory cards. That’s what I thought! And I absolutely love that each of the twenty-eight cables on this page has a chart AND printed directions. I don’t know about you, but I still need both, at least for now!

In other crafty news, I miss my beads. I think I have mentioned that it is just too hot to knit, but I am thinking I about purchasing a large tackle box to sort beads into. That way I can have some inside to work with. Right now, they are all out in the storage shed, and it’s very difficult to make pretty things when they are out there, and I am in here socking up the ac.

What I have and have not been doing

It’s late Ju,y in the south. No, I haven’t been knitting. The good news is, I also haven’t been checking out medicare supplement plans, because I am not quite that decrepit yet. What I have been doing is reading (inside where it’s cool) and fishing (outside where it’s hot, but also while reading so I don’t notice) and petting My Awesome Boyfriend (inside and outside, but not while reading. He is such a dream. Hazel eyes, hairy body, and four, count them, FOUR legs. He gave me kisses and a present on the first date! See, Awesome Boyfriend!

The book came yesterday. Tweed I mean. So I can finish Carrick. One month later than I planned, but still, I can finish it. And along with Tweed, I ordered the third book in Sally Melville’s wonderful series. I can’t wait to dig in to that.

In the meantime, I have finished the keyhole scarf and I am continuing to work on the Suzie Hoodie. And also, I am doing some reading. And eating saltines, almost an entire sleeve so far, because I am sick. Not with Mesothelioma or any other life threatening thing, just some nausea, which is most likely caused by the continual sound of my middle son hurling. At least I hope so, because I really do NOT have time to get sick. Sick means missing school and I don’t want to do that, because my profs like to test from lectures and not the texts.

Speaking of profs, my English prof has worn several cool knitted scarves to class. I’m beginning to wonder if she’s a knitter. How cool would that be?

Now, in an act that I am sure will shock you all, I am going to read. I actually have a wee amount of free time today, and I have already knitted. SO there!

Proof of the Clapotis

Hello friends. I’ve called you together, not to admire the mini chandeliers, but rather to prove to you that I really did finish the Clapotis I started last summer. The intended recipient has been notified of it’s completion and seemed pleased.

No, I am not going to show you the other stuff I have finished in the same post. A girl likes to spread things out. Also, I haven’t made my FO page for this year yet, and I need to do that before I post too much else, right? Right.

But there, I said I finished it and now you know it’s true.

OH! I almost forgot. It’s made from Caron Simply Soft Paints, in a colorway whose name I forget.

I have officially given up looking for Tweed. It is not in the house and it is not in the shed, and I think I will just the money I had planned to use to buy gold coins and buy another copy. It’s galling to buy a second copy of a book I got for free, but it is more galling to have a sweater I love so close and yet so far from completion.

In other news, I did finish the pink and green Clapotis, which I think I mentioned, and also the mini-clap which I talked about the last time I posted. And yesterday, I finally cast on for the Suzie Hoodie. I am using Furlana for it. I think we could say that yarn is well-aged. It’s been in the stash since I received it as a baby gift when DaBaby was born. She will be five this month. It’s a slightly thinner yarn than the pattern calls for, but the hoodie would be too large in the stated gauge. I think by knitting the smallest size in the thinner yarn, I will end up with a garment that fits. This is the first time I have tried cables, and I like it. It’s an every other row instant thrill, LOL!

Since I don’t think I will finish Suzie this month, I am also going to have a smaller February project. I have some yarn here, a ball and a half of very soft wool in variegated grey that is even more well aged than the Furlana. I have been thinking for some time that it would make a great Seaman’s scarf for a friend of mine, and so I will be casting on for that sometime today as well.

Yes, I know there should be pictures here. Sorry. I’m having a hard time finding time for words lately, let alone snapshots.
