Online Craft Club #37

Well, I didn’t finish a whole lot this week, but I think last week’s bonanza was enough to cut me some slack, don’t you agree? I did finish the little hat:

IMG 0681

I did not use up either ball of yarn in the making of it, so I cast on a BSJ s well. I’ll mix those two colors with back for that, and it will fit an 18-24 months child.

IMG 0693 I also made this Saturday night, to go with the black and white dresses we all wore Mother’s Day. Well, I made it to go with mine, but I suppose if I were inclined to share, it would match the rest of them, too. But I’m not, so there we go.

Here’s a close-up:

Well, I’m off to update the FO page. What have you been up to?

Take a picture of your current project, whatever that happens to be. Or maybe one you recently finished. Or the materials for the one you are about to start. Let’s say materials for a project in whatever state it happens to be in at the time you snap it. On Friday, post the picture and tell us about your project. What you did, or what you are going to do. How much you are enjoying it, or hating it. You know–show and tell.

First, off the stuff I made. We talked about

But I forgot to mention this, even though I put it on the FO page:

Sometimes a girl just gets distracted.

And then I did this:
IMG 0660

But don’t clap too much, because it looked like this when I started.
IMG 0651 1 2

But I finished it. That’s the important thing, see.

Second, I started this wallaby for Stuntman:
IMG 0680

and this gratitude hat:
IMG 0679

I had to start it because 2 balls of yarn rolled off by themselves to procreate in the corner while I was sorting, and I must knit them into submission because I absolutely refuse to budge from the almost accurate count of 260 that I have posted.

Thirdly, I packed up a couple years worth of gratitude knitting for this year’s Santa Train. This is what about half of that pile looks like:

Finally, I have sorted all my craft crap today . Seriously. As soon as I hit publish on this post, I will be updating the stash page with the rest of it. It is staggering. Truly. And yes, I have free cycled some of it, because I could and should.

So, hey! What have you been up to?

Online Craft Club Show and Tell #35

Today’s episode is more show and less tell, since I have told you about it already. Here are the washed and blocked pics of Skimmer.

I did want to let you know how I did the armholes, becasue it’s a little different than the other borders. When you are picking up stitches for an armhole, the general ratio for stockinette pick up is 3 for 4. I slip the first stitch of each row, so my pick up is 3 stitches for each long outside stitch. BUT, the armhole has to be decreased 4 for 5 at the same time. So. You have to keep 3 and 5 in your mind. I crocheted one in the first stitch, and 2 in the second, and continued that around. AT THE SAME TIME, each time I was about to hit a multiple of 4, I involved the next stitch so that four stitches would take the place of five. It sounds so complicated, but really, it falls into a rhythm. On the second round, you just do the 4 for 5. Work the third round even, and then make your shells. You may need to stretch the shells out right under the arm to help then lie flat.

I’m still working on the bag I told you about it, and it’s about half way done.

Online Craft Club Show and Tell #34

Has it really been since the 30th of May? Wow, guys. I am so sorry. I thought life had been crazy, but now I am sure of it! Becasue, really. No craft club since May 30th means basically no stitching since may 30th. And that’s just WRONG. On so many levels and in so many ways that I cannot even ……. wow. No wonder I;ve been a little cranky, ykwim?

But enough! I have pictures! Ok, Picture. This is the bottom egde of Skimmer. I have crocheted into the cast-on edge, 2 rounds, decreasing one stitch in every ten, and working through the back loops only. Then I did one round even, through the back loops. Then I did a 5 double crochet shell.

Pretty, no? I am doing the neck edge now. So, what have you been crafting?

Online Craft Club Show and Tell #34

After weeks of whining about no progress, I think it’s time to let the picture speak for itself:

Or it would be if my kids had not deleted MY picture off MY camera card. Darn it! The sweater (front and back) is together, it fits perfectly, just like I had envisioned it, and I really, really, really wanted to show it to you. But I can’t. And it is late, and I am tired, and maybe somewhat grumpy, so there will be no picture.

So what did you do? And do you have pictorial proof?

Here’s how to play:

Online Craft Club Show and Tell #33

Well, I have something different to say this week: I actually knit! In fact, one back of Skimmer is completed and the other is in progress. I’m thinking that a picture might be in order next week, aren’t you? I need to try it on and make sure it’s fitting before I begin the sleeves. The moment of truth, LOL. It’s always a little scary to take an idea and try it on. I;ve had enough experiences where the gauge was on but the garment still didn’t fit to make me just a little wary.

Okay, remember that off hand comment I just made about HP? Well, that, combined with two days of sick kiddos means that, once again, I got nuthin’. Sorry. But I’m posting craft club anyway, because I assume that not everyone lives the crazy like I lead, and someone of you, somewhere might indeed have time to do something crafty! Please tell me this is so. Show me whatcha got!

Me, I got nothin’. The last time I mentioned Skimmer I told you I had to do some knitting math before I could knit, and I still haven’t had time to do that. Or haven’t made time. Or something. Whatever the circumstance, it hasn’t happened, so this issue is on you. Tell me what you got!
