Here we go!

It’s the first brush with a hurricane this season. Are you ready? I’ve got my Clapotis pattern printed in case the power goes out. Though I am not sure how I will manage to knit a large shawl without airconditioning, LOL! The spa cover is in place. Oh wait. I don’t have a spa. But perhaps Earl will drop on in my yard for me.

I’m trying to finish up my computer work, too, but that’s going a little slow. And I am worrying already about the drive to work tomorrow. Since I missed yesterday for a mammogram and funeral, calling out isn’t really a feasible option. The good news is that it looks so far like the worst of it will miss us. I hate to wish a hurricane on anyone else, but I always breathe a little sigh of relief when we get a pass. Of course, there are also times when we are told it’s gonna be a pass and then we take the full force of it. Isabelle, anyone?

Anyway, I’ve about done what I can do, and now we wait. I have yarn and a wind-up lantern. What else could I possibly need?

Stitching Along

okay, in the Secret Christmas Crocheting, there are twelve milestones to complete. Yesterday, I spent three hours in a waiting room with children, and I raised the total steps done to four. Each step takes an hour to an hour and a half, so I think I can safely say that I will be done by Christmas, given that I have several more kid appointments to sit through and the kids are with their dad this weekend. That’s important because I will soon reach the point that I can no longer hide exactly what it is that I am doing.

*Segue* Now, as many of you know, I own several blogs. At one time, I did toy with the idea of putting everything under one umbrella, but it seemed like a huge hassle to move everything over, and really, I enjoy having niches and corners of myself to explore and it is quite handy to be able to tell a new acquaintance that “I just talked about that on my knitting blog” and not have them have to be sucked in to the drama that is my personal angst over on my other blog. There are ther reasons as well, but …there ya go.

If I were to do it over again though, I might consider just one website with multiple tabs. It would be neat to create a website that showed off my photos and my writing and my stitching and allowed me to express my creativity with site design and such as this. Kind of a OneStopCassShop, if you will. And with all the time I’ve ben spending on Facebook lately, if I were to put that time and energy into my own site, it ought to be a hum-dinger within a week, ykwim? But that would require me to give up a certain amount of my internet schizophrenia, now wouldn’t it, LOL? And also my games, and that I am not so much laughing about.

A Month? Seriously?

Does Medicare supplement insurance cover the loss of blogging and crating mojo, or am I on my own for that? Because not only have I not blogged, I haven’t stitched much either. In fact, I don’t think I have stitched at all. I’ve been working, working, working and dealing with drama, drama, drama and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning and not a whole lot else.

But a month? How does a month go by and I don’t touch fiber? That’s just…wrong. On so many levels.

Musically speaking

So,m I told you I hit the knitting wall of not yarn. And I told oyu I finally finished my book. What I didn’t mention was how I played with my music on this here computer yesterday! I want to burn some cds for the van and so I tried to mesh LimeWire, iTunes and my mp3 player to get a good mix of tunes. I finally got it done, but I did have to trick iTunes. See, that apple product only wants to play nicely with ipods. It won’t recognize other Mp3 players as valid sources of music. I actually had to use Windows Explorer to get the job done, but in the end, I persevered, I drug and dropped, I won. And I have 1.3 days of fine music to prove it! Now if I could have only made yarn at the same time!

Just want a nap!

Ok, how many times have I been here? You know where here is, right? Like six oclockish, and really wanting to go to bed, but having 48 bazillion things to do first, so I guess I’ll drink some coffee just to make it through the evening? That’s where. You been there? Found a good way to get through it that doesn’t involve caffeine or misusing the best diet pills? Me either, so I guess I’ll make coffee.

I just want to be organized, I just want to read, I just want my house clean, I just want to knit, I just want my laundry caught up, I just want to make pretty stuff, I just want to play with my kids. But first, I need to make coffee.

Well, I read

Nothing crafty, unless you count writing and singing, but I did at least read. Curled up in my golden bed, I read and read and read. For at least half and hour before I fell asleep, LOL! Seriously, if I were to win the Econo Lodge American values sweepstakes, I’d be hard pressed to choose between my books and my yarn. And the music. Let’s not forget that, because these days, I spend a lot of time humming “crazy is the new normal”.

And tonight? I can tell you now that I am so tired, I will not be crafting, but I do still plan to read a bit.

Word of Warning

Notice how that could make the aconym wow? See, always thinking, that’s me. Here’s my warning: I made a tremendously long to do list today. It doesn’t include studying Mesothelioma, but it does involve several specific action items round the house, and a few errands. AND, it includes reading for pleasure and doing something crafty. Just so you know, I don’t plan to wait until I get all of that impossible to finish list completed before I indulge myself for a few minutes. So there, universe!

Wow. Just wow.

That’s what the kids have been saying to me lately. Each time I do something clumsy or silly or just overly Cass-tastic. In fact, I have heard it so that I now say it to and about myself. Like for instance, when I looked on the the front page of the blog and realized it has been almost a month since I posted. Twenty nine days in fact. That’s just crazy. What’s crazier is that I haven’t done more crafty stuff in that time.

I’m working now, don’t know if I mentioned that. And rearranging my house since the family make-up has changed, pretty sure I didn’t mention that. So basically, I’ve spent that last month trying to get my crap together, and frankly, I’m beginning to believe “getting my crap together” may actually be my new and semi-permanent lifestyle.

I just want to sit with a cup of coffee, a movie and some yarn. But you know what? I’d fall asleep. I just know I would, because as soon as I slow down, that’s what happens. Some people recommend HGH for more energy and a youthful feeling. I like my plan better: just keep going, kinda like the energizer bunny.

I’m busier that I’ve been in years, but I’m also happier and sleeping better. That’s a good thing, even if I do fall asleep when I finally sit down. But when I get my room and the living room finished, I will craft. Oh, yes I will. In the meantime, I’ll try to blog a little more regularly, too.
