Smell Good Kids! Huggies Clean Team

May 6, 2008 at 10:16 pmTag: Shopping

Or should that be good smelling kids? Ah, who knows? I have some things sitting here on my desk that my kids keep trying to walk away with. In fact, I just told dh I really needed some help corraling the kiddos so I could get some work done, and complaining about how they were messing with my desk. He replied that if I didn’t want the kids to play on my desk, I ought to take down the “invitations to play”. Here’s what he was referring to:
IMG 0448

Yeah, I guess when you put it like that, he’s right. What kid could resist these bright, happy packages? And the scents! Oh my! Light and tropical, and oh so fun. And that purple thing? It’s a light up timer–it blinks for 20 seconds to help kids wash their hands thoroughly. Pretty neat, huh? And that little wipe box is the cutest thing ev-ar, isn’t it? They are flushable, doncha know! The wipes I mean, not the box. The box has definite recycling potential, though; I can totally see it tucked into a knitting bag to hold stitch holders and the like, or in the cabinet to hold crayons, or even in the diaper bag holding…wipes, go figure. Shoot, I’d put make-up in it, it’s just that whimsical and fun!

Okay, I’ve told you about my new goodies. I mean the kids’ new goodies. I guess I can get them off my desk now and into the bathrooms. Maybe tomorrow I’ll be able to find my stuff again. Or, you know, not.

I really did mean to post more on Friday night. It had been my firm intention to finish off that set of posts with the OCC post before I called it a night, but then I got tired and went to bed, because I knew I would have a big shopping day Saturday. And, I was right, I did have a big day. I bought a freezer! And I picked up a computer for DH, and clothes for 3 of the girls. And another pair of shoes for myself. I love me some shoes, ya’ll!

And Sunday, I spent the day with my husband. And here it is Monday evening already, and after supper is Boy Scouts. I tell you, sometimes this real life stuff is a pain in the rear! I’ll get here, eventually, LOL!

We’ll take four!

May 2, 2008 at 10:14 pmTag: Shopping

Dresses, that is. Mama, Country and I went shopping. Man, did we go shopping. Clothes for Country and Diva, and 4 just-alike-except-for-the-size dresses for the four of us to wear on Mother’s Day. Seriously, this is the universally flattering dress. It fits all of us and looks great on each of us! Can’t beat that! This is our first year without Grandmother, and so, for the first time, I may be in my own church on Mother’s Day. Or I may end up going to Granny’s church, with the rest of that side of the family. Regardless, we’ll be wearing those new frocks, that much is settled. Also, we did not get new slips, the “control” ones that mashed our boobs flat and let our bellies hang about in a most bouncy and unflattering way. Also, I think I hurt my shoulder joint getting the thing on and off. Just sayin’

So, what are you doing for Mother’s Day? Do you still live close enough to visit? I tell you, when I lived out of state, it was hard on me not to be around my family on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, almost as hard as the bigger holidays of Christmas and Thanksgiving. Of course, that was before everyone was online, when you still had to use the yellow pages to send a long distance mothers day gift. 1-800-FLOWERS makes it so easy to select just the right arrangement, unlike when you had to call, and kinda just hope what they were describing to you sounded like what you thought it sounded like. Did that make sense? I hope so. If you ordered flowers back in the day, you know exactly what I meant, anyway. Nothing more unnerving than having to say ‘Red, she likes red, can you send some red flowers that look like ruffles?” “No, I don’t know the name of them.” “No, not roses, the other ones”. Yeah, slick, right?

Be smarter, and let the florist work harder instead of you, LOL!

Ready? Set? Prepare to Blog!

BLOG!

Wow, ok. I’ve been incredibly distracted for the past couple of days, chasing rabbit trails. I looked at this site, and that led to this site, and then they linked to another site, and then the day was over and oops! No post. Sorry. I don’t mean to forget about yu and suck as a blogger, it just happens. And then? Well then, I realize my error and flood your feed reader. Muhahahhahahhhahah! Oh wait. Bet that’s only funny to me.

I lack time and chutzpah to show you most of what I’ve been reading on, but here’s something I know you will like: Custom Photo Cards. I know I mentioned awhile back that I was thinking of ordering some, but then I didn’t. Because I am a slacker. But then I had occasion to send out a couple of cards this week, and you know what? I had to go buy cards. Ones without MY picture on them. And they were cool cards, and they served the purpose, but really… when I want to send a note of encouragement to a friend, I’d like a personalized card. See, just because it says Merry Christmas or whatever in the example doesn’t mean I have to have that. I could have it blank inside. I could put my face on the outside. Or my blog header, complete with name, right across the front. Or maybe just yarn, ROFL!

Can we please unplug?

April 25, 2008 at 6:53 pmTag: Traveling, Shopping

I realized I kinda left a lot of stuff out of that last post, and I thought I might try to round it out just a bit. When I re-read it, I was left hanging, and not only did I write the post, but I;m the one living the life, so if I am scratching my head, something needs to be clarified for sure!

Ya’ll. I am tired. No. I am not tired. I am just two hairs short of weary, and there is a world of difference. Tired means resting will fix it. Weary means I need to get away from the press of life. There is nowhere to go, though, and I …. it’s just been a constant assault these past few months, and just when I think things are coming a bit more under control, I get blind-sided again. Like, for instance, I had planned to basically take this weekend off and pamper myself just a little bit. Read, play with the kids, talk to dh about something besides what’s for dinner, and then this afternoon, I realized I have to write lesson plans. Not just the plug-in-the-new-math-book plans, that I was expecting, but entire multi-subject plans. Not quite the “light shopping and general relaxation” I had envisioned.

Ya know… if I were a rich woman, I would book myself on a Flight to Australia, and I would hire a guide (paying him extra to be quiet), and I would go on walkabout. With a new camera. And lots and lots of sunscreen. I would go for the weekend and only sleep on the planes there and back.

Instead, I will go to the grocery store, write the plans, and maybe, just maybe squeeze in an extra five minutes in the shower. But I tell you this, if my mama says “Let’s go to town”, I am dropping what I am doing and going to town.

Who Needs Free Checks?

March 23, 2008 at 8:58 amTag: Shopping

I have told you guys before that I like to use VistaPrint for my printing needs. I’ve gotten several sets of business cards from them, for various things I am involved in, and the quality has always been high, the shipping quick and the print sharp. I like VistaPrint! A lot.

Now, I knew they made business cards (of course) and stamps and address stickers but this morning I found out that they also do check printing. And as usual, they have a coupon. I love coupons, don’t you? Use the code “BlogFreeChecks08” to get 25 free checks. Consider it my little Easter Gift to you. Oh, wait. It’s not my coupon, so maybe that won’t work so well. Let me think of something else. Well, does it count that I told you about it?

Ok, seriously, check out the checks and such at VistaPrint. They do good work, and you won’t be disappointed. And don’t forget the coupon! Now, let me see if I can dig up an Easter present for you after all. I think I have a couple hidden here in this computer somewhere.

Need a Home MakeOver?

March 21, 2008 at 11:32 pmTag: Shopping

I do. Well, I need an addition. Remember the other day when I showed you the now-fully-in-place bathroom sink? That brought us back up to 2 full bathrooms, but I think we still need another one. And a couple of bedrooms. Because, really. Dude. 9 people, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Kay? Kay. I keep hoping someone will tell that tv show about us and we will totally get a new huge house, but it hasn’t happened so far, so I’ll just keep dreaming, and looking out for contests like this one: Renuzit TriScents Transform Your Home is giving away a 20,000 Home Makeover.

I know, I know, cut to the chase. You enter by submitting a video (two minutes or less in length) or photo AND an essay (250 words or less). You have to show why your home needs a makeover, and how Renuzit can help make that happen, see? There’s a little more, but not much, so go ahead and see official rules then enter to win! While you are there, print a coupon for the TriScents Starter Kit. It’s quick and easy, and you’ll save some money. And if your bathroom is like mine (used by three busy boys), an air freshener is always in order. Once you try it, go ahead and tell them why you want a home makeover, because one thing is certain: if you don’t enter, you won’t win. If you do, you might.
