The current state of Carrington

At least, I think that’s the name. Maybe not, but we’ll go with it for now. As you can see, I have a front and a back here.

I need 2 sleeves and a turtle neck. Not a tight one, a loose one.

But, umm, what are these pins for? I’m taking bets as to whether or not I can remember when I pick it up. Your odds are better than your last insurance quote if you say “probably not”. Oh, how I love my knitting adhd. Which probably isn’t a politically correct thing to say, but have you seen the number of unfinished objects sitting around my house?

And yes, that is my beautiful new comforter peeking out underneath the sweater parts! ;-)

All My Words

All my words this month, some thirty one thousand nine hundred and seven teen of them so far have gone toward National Novel Writing Month. I don’t know if anyone will ever read my little book, but I am having a real good time writing it! I’m just here to drop a quick link to this Canon camera and then it’s right back to the book for me. Hopefully, I’ll have something intelligent to say around the first of December, or after fifty thousands NaNoWriMo words, which ever comes first.

Can you feel it?

I don’t know how it feels where you are, but it’s definitely cooler in the mornings here. My kids are ready for long-sleeved school uniforms, and we have a jacket scramble every morning. And for me, that means I am thinking about finally finishing all those sweaters I have on the needles. Mostly the one in Dublin Tweed for me, lol. It’s okay to be selfish, right? Especially since the sweater in question has been sitting so long that I will have to search my own archives to figure out which pattern I was following. I know I have the front and back finished, so it only needs the sewing plus collar and sleeves. Easy peasy, right? Yep, if I can find the pattern.

I probably won’t get to that today. I’m going camping this weekend, so I need to get ready for that. It will be the last time I can take the kids out until next spring, though I may go myself between now and then. And, no, I don’t take sweater knitting when I go camping. It’s too big. I take socks or hats instead, but I may just take a book instead this time. We’ll see.

Guest Post: Little Mermaid on Halloween

Guest post written by Renee Bilworth

When it comes to Disney princesses I think that my favorite has to be the mermaid Ariel. She’s just so spunky and independent. Plus, she’s a princess of the sea, which me and my kids always thought was so much better than being a princess on land. Even if she does get legs eventually. So one of my daughters this year is going to dress up like her for Halloween.

I’ve been on the look out for a good Ariel costume for a few weeks now. That’s how I came across www.getclearwirelessinternet.com and decided to switch over our internet service to it. But after all that trouble I didn’t have much luck finding something I just wanted to buy, so I’m going to be creative and make one instead.

I came up with an idea to make up an even better mermaid tail and found a pattern that I thought would work for it. Then I’m going to make some really pretty holographic and sparkly scales. I think it will be better and I can make sure that it fits her perfectly.

Crafting on the Cheap

I was at Micheal’s not too long ago, drooling over the K & Co scrapbooks. Aren’t they just the prettiest things? I’ve always loved her stuff. Well, I assume it’s a her, but you never know, I guess. I was also looking at some embellishments. I know I have plenty, but I don’t have NEW stuff, ykwim? In the world of scrapping, my supplies could probably be most accurately described as ancient, even though only 5 or so real people years have passed since I last scrapped. Actually, it may have been longer than that. The last one I actually finished was from my Texas trip to visit the clone when she was 15. She’s, ah…. 22 now.

Here’s today’s question: where do you guys find awesome craft coupons? I am in need of a couple of scrapbooks, and the ones I like are just plain spendy! I have plenty of paper and notions, old as the may be, but all my books are full, and besides, I want new ones for new projects. I found a few goodies at Be Frugal, including this: Fabric.com Coupons and the ever faithful Michaels Coupons.

Okay, so tell me: where do you like to shop, what do you look for, and where do you find coupons. If you know of awesome deals that aren’t strictly craft related, well, I’m open to that too!
