Holidays are for stitching and goal setting

I have decided I really like holidays, because on holidays, I sit around and stitch. Let’s just say that on Friday, you will be very surprised :)

So, I’ve been thinking, as I have been stitching, about what I want to do craft-wise this new year. I sort of have my in my mind that I would like to finish a project per month. That’s a goal of just 12 projects, and I usually go way over that, so I have to make a hitch in it: I’d like to finish 12 projects without spending any money on supplies. Can I create for 365 364 days without dipping into paypal? No Joann or AC Moore? Should I build myself a way out? I know, for instance, that I will need a frame before I can declare Fantasy Ride completely finished, but I also know that if I go to buy that frame, other things will find their way into my cart, much like I went to Joann last summer to buy buttons and quilt backing and ended up with supplies for another quilt. I can get the project ready to frame for free though.

And I really, really want a copy of Big Girl Knits, too. Hmm, I guess a goal isn’t worth anything if it doesn’t cause you to stretch just a bit, huh? But no money at all? For a year? That may be a bit too tight. Let’s try this: once I finish those 12, then I can buy something if I want to. According to my budget software, this is a very good idea.
