No Fair!

Life is just not fair. I talked to Mama and she doesn’t think she has my yarn. I don’t even know where a label for it is, so I could put out a call for just one skein id such and such dyelot, as knitting bloggers sometimes do. I am, in a word, .. no, pick another word. Grumpy. That will work. Aggravated and Frustrated also work.

I have pretty much decided to work on Fantasy Ride, since it has been sitting here on my desk for a couple months now.

Ha! I hope I can still see to do it. That would so not be funny, would it?

And just so you know, any futures brokers that might be reading?? Go heavily into viscose, cotton and silk. These are the fibers in svale.

Well, you are totally not going to believe this. Or maybe you will, since you read this blog and know my scatter-brained tendencies….. I had planned to show you a sweater with almost two sleeves. Diva had a doc appointment yesterday, and I was just sure I would be able to knock the most of that second sleeve out. So I was gathering up my things and I have lost the last ball of yarn for Sonnet. Now, I know it is in this house somewhere, unless I took it with me to see Grandmother, which I may have, I am not sure because that whole week is just a blur, and if I did, it is in Mama’s car. I hope. In the meantime though, I can’t finish it, so I am looking at my WIPs and wondering which one I want to tackle first. Or perhaps, I will spend this week playing with make-up, since I now have enough to fill the smallest travelpro case. At any rate, I want to see what you are working (or not working) on. Show me!

Here’s what you do:

Take a picture of your current project, whatever that happens to be. Or maybe one you recently finished. Or the materials for the one you are about to start. Let’s say materials for a project in whatever state it happens to be in at the time you snap it. On Friday, post the picture and tell us about your project. What you did, or what you are going to do. How much you are enjoying it, or hating it. You know–show and tell.

The Quest Continues

Which quest? The one for the perfect make-up of course. In these shots, one side of my face is made up with ELF mineral cosmetics using the brushes that kit came with. The other side is made up with Aromaleigh using my old familiar brushes. Whaddya think?

And one more, in case the brushes were making too much of a difference.

It’s the Day After!

Wanna know what my Christmas tree looked like? Wondering what I got for Christmas? Hey, I told you posting would be light! Did you not believe me? No knitting has occurred, but I can assure that I looked faboo in my mineral makeup. Yes, I have pictures to prove it, but you’ve seen my mug enough lately, so you’ll just have to trust me on the issue.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, my wounded shoulder and I are outta here, perhaps to knit. What, you didn’t know about my shoulder? You didn’t click the links then, did you? Umm-hmmm. I see how you are.

3/10, TAR, Sleeve, Christmas Eve

I just realized that three of my last 10 posts contained pictures of my face. Quite the narcissist, huh? Hmm, I guess it’s time to talk about knitting again or something. Which I would gladly do, since I did sit down to watch The Amazing race last night with my knitting, and I planned to get right to that…except that I got “lapped’, and by that I mean, SomeBaby wanted to sit with me. I’ve finally learned that the one thing that absolutely will not wait is a baby that wants your lap. Tomorrow, they’ll be one day older, and soon enough, not a baby at all. The sleeve will wait :)

So, are you ready? I am. This year, the children are getting three gifts under the tree, Santa is bringing a family gift and filling stockings, and that’s it. Financially and space-wise, it is impossible for me to do for 8 kids what I did for one, or even for two or three. There’s a freedom in that. They don’t lack for thing, and if you could see the amount of stuff that has gone out of here for goodwill and the town dump over the past three weeks, you would understand exactly what I mean. Too much stuff. More stuff than even military relocation specialists could manage. And I haven’t done my room yet. I will though, and soon.

Speaking of babies (see the first paragraph), posting will likely be light this week. I have children to play with. :)

Girly Girl Squeeeeeeeee for Aromaleigh

Oh honeys. My samples came, and I had myself a little makeover last night.

This is Glissade 1C for the foundation and finishing and Rocks! Sonic Eye NightShift (yes, it’s an eyeshadow) for blush. And then I placed an order.

This morning, I played again!

This is PF for foundation (trying to make my samples last) Pink blush, and the Glissade for finishing. Rawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwr! Way more fun than the used cisco I was supposed to talk about.

Re-Knit

So, in the great house cleaning on ’07,which you can read about on other blogs, I have uncovered a couple of sweaters that never did quite fit correctly, namely
and and I am thinking some re-knitting is in order.

For the fireman sweater, belonging to Spidey, I think I can just use the yarn in the hat to make the body longer, and that will suffice. The sweater for Diva also needs the body lengthened, but I will have to take the yarn from the sleeves instead. You know, it takes a substantial investment of time to churn out a handknit garment, and I’d really prefer that the things get worn for more than one season. Maybe I’m alone in that, but I doubt it. I imagine folks who spend great gobs of money on equestrian riding apparel like those to last a while, too.

And did I mention I am mailing my beloved Otis out to someone who can wear it without looking like a stuffed penguin? Umm-hmm, I shoulda known from looking at the model that my spectaculars were never going to fit properly in there.

Okay, look. You know I haven’t been knitting much, because I told you that I hadn’t, so Sonnet looks substantially the same as it did the last time you saw it just a couple weeks ago. Not wanting to bore you, I decided to do some painting instead, and ask your opinion on the results. I did two sides of my face with different makeup. One side has Maybelline SuperStay Silky and the other is Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Powder. Here it is not long after I applied it. Tell me what you think.

ETA: I should have given you a natural lighting pic, I know, but today’s outdoor lighting consists of grey rain.
