Archive for November, 2007

If I watch myself take yarn and produced textured fabric, do I get to call it fiber optic cables? No? Sigh. I thought not. I set learning to do cables as a goal for 2006 and it didn’t happen, and here we are on November of 2007, and I still haven’t done it. In truth, the designs I have seen with cables aren’t as appealing to me as other textures, but I still feel like I need to learn to do it. If I make a cabled swatch, does that count?

In other goal-ish news, I have less than 500 days left on my 1001 list. I totally need to get cracking on that. I realized several months ago that I had made some mistakes when I made the lost, namely putting things on it that depended on other people. I need to go back over that list and see what can still be accomplished off of it.

That probably will not happen this week, heheheh. I’m all booked up!

I Want a Dreamhouse

Lookie what I see! It’s a contest, and one of the prizes is a $$500,000 dream house. You can collect game pieces off Goya, Reynolds and Tyson products. You match, you win, done.

Now, why do I want a dream house? And what does my dream house hold? Bathrooms, lots of bathrooms. A couple of weeks ago, DH bought a new pedestal sink and ripped the sink out of the small bathroom, at my request. We were thinking that football was soon over, and his work schedule was light and he’d soon get the new pedestal sink installed, and life would be great!

Well, not exactly. See, football got extended due to rain cancellations, his work schedule picked up a tad, AND he plumbing in there doesn’t run quite the way we thought it did. Consequently, there is still no sink in that bathroom, and so the nine of us are all using the two bathroom vanities in the master bath. Good morning and bed time are a bit tricky just now. However, I am sure that sink is going to be installed and working by the time I get home from Vegas.

Did you hear that Dh?

And did I mention that the pieces are behind my dining room chair, so that I have to squeeze in and out of my space?? Just sayin’

Online Craft Club Show and Tell #9

I had really intended to spend another week on the log cabin blanket, but I just could not make myself do it. Could. Not.

And so, I picked up the first sleeve on Sonnet, but that’s not what I am showing you. Remember the throw pillow I started with those mini-skeins? Well, here is it.

Of course, there was not enough to make a whole top, so I will have to put something else with it.

Next week, I will be living the high life out in Las Vegas, so I am not sure if there will be a Craft Club post or not. If not, I’ll see you on the 16th.

I hope you enjoyed my [tag]show and tell[/tag]. I’d love it if you play along with me. Here’s what you do:

Take a picture of your current project, whatever that happens to be. Or maybe one you recently finished. Or the materials for the one you are about to start. Let’s say materials for a project in whatever state it happens to be in at the time you snap it. On Friday, post the picture and tell us about your project. What you did, or what you are going to do. How much you are enjoying it, or hating it. You know–show and tell.

Just copy & paste the code below the graphic and get crafty with me!

Be sure to come back and leave a comment so we know where to find you!

Future Kipper

Here’s my little knitter in training! Drama helped me while I was winding those mini skeins of yarn yesterday. The first time, I asked her to help, and she was quite willing, so we began, I was winding along, and she wanted to take her hands out. Of course, I said no, and she said, “but my hands will be tied up in there”. I assured her that this was not the case, and that her hands would be free shortly, but I could tell she didn’t quite believe me. She was very relieved when I got through winding to find out this was true and her hands were her very own again. This picture was taken later in the evening, when she’s had a little more yarn holding experience.

Now, if I could just get DaBaby interested in yarn instead of the dog food, my pet supplies might last a bit longer.

Good Yarn Deals

Hehehe. I spend entirely too much time thinking about craft supplies, and how to acquire then. And I pretty much have reached SABLE, but, still, it never hurts to think scheme plan appropriately for future acquisitions. After all, there are projects out there that cost as much or more than Luminox watches. So, I know about Elann and Herrschner’s. Where else do you guys find phenomenal deals? Because, what if I live to be 200 instead of just 150? I might need more yarn, ykwim?

How much knitting?

How much knitting could a fast knitter knit if a fast knitter could knit knits? Well, plenty. However, if that fast knitter was helping the eye doctor give exams to DaBaby and Drama, instead of sitting placidly in the waiting room, she would not get to knit very much at all. But we’re almost done with doctor visits for another year. I think when it’s officially over, I will go over to and find the coupon codes for, and send myself some flowers. Lord knows, I deserve them. And then I will use the same 1800flower coupons to send some flowers to my family or putting up with the evil witch I have been while all this has been going on.

Going, going, going makes me crazy. I may get in more knitting time, but it makes my whole day spin totally out of control, and I get behinder and behinder and in the long run, that equals less time for knitting, and that equals an even grumpier me, and so there that is. A knitting Cass is a happy Cass.
