Online Craft Club Show and Tell #11

Did you miss Craft Club last week? I realized on Friday that I wasn’t home on Friday to post. Pretty lame, I know. Sorry I was a slacker knitter :(

Anyway, I did post that I finished the footies, and I am now working on Sonnet. As you can see, I have one sleeve well underway. In fact, since I have started using the next to last ball of yarn, that sleeve is about 18 rounds from completion, which will make it about 3/4 length, which is perfect. Still loving the color, the texture, the everything on this sweater!

So what are you crafting today?
~~~~~~~~
I hope you enjoyed my [tag]show and tell[/tag]. I’d love it if you play along with me. Here’s what you do:
Take a picture of your current project, whatever that happens to be. Or maybe one you recently finished. Or the materials for the one you are about to start. Let’s say materials for a project in whatever state it happens to be in at the time you snap it. On Friday, post the picture and tell us about your project. What you did, or what you are going to do. How much you are enjoying it, or hating it. You know–show and tell.
Just copy & paste the code below the graphic and get crafty with me!
Be sure to come back and leave a comment so we know where to find you!
Shhhhhhhhhhhh! Christmas is coming
Did you know that? Due to a massive conspiracy on the part of several small nations, and also Dh’s work load and also mine, we are NOT going all crazy this year. I know I say that every year, but this year, I really mean it, because it’s just not there. BUT, I am already looking forward to reviving some of the traditions that have fallen by the wayside, things like Seasoned Oyster Crackers and Roasted Pecans and games and puzzles. But, as most mothers do, I have a few things tucked away, and this is one of them:
prod9209 dt It’s from Learning Resources, and I was thrilled to score several of their educational toys. I know all the kids will enjoy them, and I plan to give them to the family as a whole. I also got Alphaball and Jump ‘n’ Jam Jungle. It’s gonna be loud. It’s gonna be giggly. It’s gonna be fun!
Don’t look now, but
I was cleaning today! Crazy, huh? Yeah, I can actually see the top of my nightstand again. I actually threw away *gasp* craft mags. Not knitting mags, mind you, but some quilt ones. Apparently I decided to use my bedroom set like office furniture, because I have allowed reading material to stack up to rather scary heights in there. In order to render it manageable again, I put the wicker box of huge hair bows that I made back in the day when I had really long hair in the top of the closet. Then I put the books back, and it wasn’t nearly as scary, because they weren’t nearly as tall. 😛 Yeah, I read in bed and that’s probably not going to change.
Umm, let’s see: knitting news. None. I did not get any knitting done yesterday except what I did at the dentist office. But I am opening iTunes, and downloading the latest ‘casts, and I have a hot date with some cool yarn tonight. Unless of course, some sort of parenting, cooking, or cleaning disaster occurs. In that case, I’ll be back tomorrow with another lame post about how I didn’t get to knit again.
Sonnet Continues and PremiumPearl.com
Knitting continues on Sonnet. I even did a few rounds laying in the dentist chair today. The sleeve is growing, slowly but surely, you’ll see it Friday and there’s really not much else you can say about a sleeve, so let’s move on and chatter about my next favorite hobby: shopping.
yhst 14996112525665 1976 8138961Dh has asked me what I want for Christmas, and I need to come up with something. I am thinking maybe some memory for the computer or something like this little trinket to the right. Aren’t they gorgeous? or would that be isn’t it gorgeous? Whichever. The bracelet comes from premiumpearl.com, where shopping is easy, ordering is fine, and I have once again proven that I have champagne taste while dh must shop with a beer budget. HA!
Com’on, it’s only a $2,300 bauble, what’s the problem? It was super easy to put that in the cart and pretend to check out, and surely easy makes up for spendy, right? Okay, maybe not that spendy, but you do have to admit I have excellent taste, right?
Eww, that’s gross
So I’m sitting at my desk just now, and I’m thinking about my windows, and specifically about how the kids broke my mini blinds, and I look over to remind myself of just how bad it is, and ewwwwwwwwwwwww. Someone rolled them from the way they were to the opposite and they are black almost on the other side. Blinds should not be this color, people. I’m not sure they make a cleanser that will clean them, and since they are broken, I am more thinking replacement, anyway.
Shutter Images 101 smallI looked at these Plantation Shutters for the living room and dining room, because they remind me of the beautiful shutters my in-laws had in their home. Of course, since I did actually scrape pumpkin pie off a dining room chair tonight, I really doubt the wisdom of any kitchen window treatment that I can’t just throw in the washer, ykwim?
Nowhere to go
So, here I sit at 6 o’clock. And you know what? I don’t have anywhere I have to be tonight. Or tomorrow night. Or the night after that. In fact, I think the next time I have to leave at night is December 3rd, but I have to sit down with my calendar and notes before I am completely sure. But tonight, I can sit at home with the fam, stitching and watching the tube, just like we were normal people instead of cheerleaders and football players. Truly, the mind boggles!
I can hardly decide what to work on first! Did I tell you that I was working the first sleeve of Sonnet? And that I did get the pattern for Fantasy Ride? I know I told you I finished my socks, so I could in theory start another pair.
But what if instead of tv, I decided to listen to podcasts? I could buy an ipod battery, tune in and tune out. The bliss of nowhere to go has clearly affected my powers of logic, because I don’t even have an ipod. Yet. I did see some knockoffs at Wal-Mart the other night, and the price was very tempting at less than $35 for a 1gb player. I’m considering it for not only me, but also a couple of the kiddos.
What makes a hobby crafty?
So, it’s 8 o’clock, and here I sit in the recliner, laptop on my lap, ready for The Amazing Race, and what appears but 60 Minutes! Because the football game ran late. I wonder if 6AM will also be delayed, because that’s what time I need to get up, and I want to watch TAR before bedtime.
But while I am sitting here, watching people wake up from comas and vegetative states, I thought I might talk for a few minutes about what constitutes a hobby, and if non-crafting hobbies really belong on a craft blog. I still feel pretty uncomfortable with that idea, even though I took it for a test drive last week. It felt awkward after the time I spent trying to get this blog back on track, like life insurance quotes at a baby shower or something. So, there it is. Thanks for your patience while I tried that on for size, but I think we’ll return to our regular scheduled programming, which is crafting of the mostly knitting kind. Although if I knit while I watch, you may hear about it!
Moblogger R Me
Okay ya’ll, I will be moblogging a time or two or more while I am gone. I have my updates set up to go to Mothering Many. It seemed appropriate, given the nature of the trip. Check in over there to see what we are up to!
