Buttonhole bags–Finished Objects 10 through14 of 2007
So, did you notice blogging had been pretty light the past couple of days? I’ve been knitting at warp speed, and have made 5 buttonhole bags since Wednesday. These were made from assorted wools (d’uh), and I had a lot of fun with them. I used triple strand for all but the reddish one, and it was doubled, because the yarn was thicker. I used size 17 needles on all of them.

Here are a couple of before and after pics of the camo bag, just to show the change that felting brings. This just always amazes me, LOL!

Exactly what is felting? (non knitter person is dying to know)
Those look like fun! I like the colors, too.
Those are really pretty and I like the felted before and after shots. I have always wanted to felt something, but since I only crochet I have to find a pattern I can use first before attempting it. Is there a ratio that you go by? You knit a certain size so that when it is felted it becomes a specific size?
What are they used for?

You know that thing that happens to sweaters sometimes, where you wash them wrong, and they get thick, matted and too small? That’s felting, only I’m doing it on purpose.

Felting is different every time, Alli. There are not measurements in stone, but generally, work loosely and go 2ish times the desired finished size.
Pocketbooks, knitting bags, chair decorations, whatever.
