Parenting Blogs

Lisa invited me to join this parenting blogroll, and though I am hideously late in passing it on, I do read parenting blogs, and enjoy them, so I am going to add a few to it. If you’d like to place this list on your own blog, and add a couple of your favorites to it, that would be awesome!

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content string. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra linkback.
2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.
4. Add no more than 5 new parenting or (Mommy/Daddy) blogs to the list in the “My Adds” section.

No knittin’, no schoolin’

Just cleanin’! I went through my clothes this morning, and have bags of stuff for Goodwill. The girls are doing the same, and I’ll help the boys as soon as I finish my stuff. I decided it would be better to take a week and get it done rather than dragging it out. I’ve been trying to do it a little at a time, but the weather got warm enough to make it needful to find out what everyone has and what I still need to get. Not that I want to go back to you-know-where today or tomorrow.

I think the older girls are good. I am sure when I actually get into the bins, I’ll find plenty for the boys and the babies. Oh, yeah, did I mention I’m only dealing with what’s out? I haven’t touched the bins yet, LOL! That’s for another day, and not one this week.[tags]spring cleaning, clothes shopping[/tags]

Dell coupons

Look what I found today!! [tag]Dell Coupons[/tag]!!! Even though this computer hasn’t given me anymore problems since we cleaned it, I’m still looking for a laptop. I’ve just moved it from critical to high-priority, and will be able to take some extra time for research.

I’ve narrowed down the Dells to the 1501, and the coupon on [tag]CheapStingyBargains.com[/tag] brings the price to $629. It’s already got the dual core processor, and the 1GB memory, as well as more hard drive than I will ever be able to fill! All I need to add is an extended service agreement.

There are more coupons on the site for other brands, as well as other Dells, so it’s worth taking a look before you break out the checkbook/ credit card/ paypal. I am avoiding clicking on the digital camera deals page, but yes, they have one. I didn’t click, I promise! I just right clicked, and copied the link location.

I have clothes

I went back to that new WalMart, ya’ll. I declare I have single handedly made their grand opening profitable! I took DDs 1,2 and 3 and we went for underroos for DD#4 and us plus clothes for DD#3. But, we all found stuff that fit and that we liked, so I bought it. That happens so rarely that I have learned the hard way to jump on it when it does. Nonetheless, I’ve walked out of Reeds Jewelers happy after spending less than I’ve spent at WalMart this week. It was many years ago, but, still.

And I am being a mean mom today. They are having to excavate the pig-sty to earn their new duds. Nyuck, nyuck, nyuck. Of course, I am cleaning out my closet and drawers as well. Since I’ve lost weight, I have a bunch of stuff that doesn’t fit anymore. Most of my clothes are now in the bathroom, and my closet is empty except for my wedding dress. The dresser is pretty bare, too, as I took out all my shirts.

When DD#1 went in the bathroom, she came out to tell me that my closet had escaped.

Cross Over

Saturday night was Cross Over for my boy scouts. Instead of having a tiger and a wolf, I now have a different wolf and a bear. No wonder I often feel as if I live in a zoo. :) The ceremonies were pretty long, but each den got recognized for their achievements, and many boys were singled out for achievements. DS#1 got awards I didn’t even know he had earned, LOL!

Here are some pictures.

1)Tigers waiting to [tag]crossover[/tag]. That’s me with DS#2 at the end of the line. Can you say “big hair day”?
2)DS#1 before crossing over.
3)Bears ready to cross. You can find me by the HAIR, and that’s DS#1 with the hair lady.

Click these little ones, and presto! big ones will appear.[tags]wolf scout, bear scout, boy scouts[/tags]

Donating my old ride

Ya’ll remember I got that new van a couple months ago. The old one is still sitting in the yard, and I know we are not going to repair it. I have been putting off calling the junk yard to come haul it off, and so there it just sits, useless for anything but storage. (Dh has a few left over parts from work in it.)

I think I may have found another option, though. I saw today that you can help help needy children by [tag]donating a car[/tag], instead of selling it. You get free towing, it’s hassle free, and you can make a difference in someone’s life! Donate car has a toll-free number to call for more info (866-211-5277), but you can also fill out a form on-line and they’ll call you. And you can check the Donate Car FAQs to find out more. They are a 501(c)(3) charity organization, and you do get a tax benefit from your donation.

I’m excited about this, and I will be cleaning out that van, and filling out the form later this week. It will feel good to help others while I solve my own problem. And if DH has his way about it, they’ll be getting a second call from me in a couple of months.

Knitting Update

Here is the [tag]lace[/tag] dress with the second sleeve started. I am about a quarter of the way through with it! After that, I’ll need to do that crocheted trim on the bodice and sew the 4 seams, and it will be done. Soon, I hope. I’m excited to finally see the end in sight, and am ready to finish some other things as well.

I’ve totally missed this segment of [tag]Project Spectrum[/tag], and I am looking forward to participating in the next part with this dress behind me. The next segment is for April / May and the colors are Green, Yellow, and Pink. That would include

  • my ballet wrap (Otis) (already started)
  • the pinwheel sweaters for DD#4 and DD#5 (not started, but have the yarn)
  • finishing the sweater for DD#1
  • several of my [tag]self striping yarns[/tag] (maybe socks, maybe not)
  • lace shawl
  • the yoke for DS#1′s sweater.
  • poncho for DD#3

I won’t finish nearly all that, but I wanted to get the possibilities down in writing.

Shop, Shop, Shop

So, I went to the new [tag]WalMart[/tag] on Wednesday, about 12 hours after it opened. It’s a huge store, and very pleasant to shop in. I dropped a load of money, and now I have to go back, LOL. I did not have the boys with me when I went Wednesday, and between them, they need 5 pairs of shoes. I did find everything I was looking for, except the cucumber-melon candles, so I picked those up at Dollar General last night. Unfortunately, I left them in Mama’s car.

Let me tell you what I’ve done! My chest freezer started leaking, so I emptied it and we moved it on out. I used that space to create a [tag]reading nook[/tag]. I moved the one of the bookcases out of the living room (to create room for the computer hutch), and put a comfy chair there with it. I added a (new) lamp and (new) cd player. It’s quite cool, if I say so myself, and has been in near constant use since Wednesday night when I set it up. Yes, that was the motivation for the WalMart trip, though I laughingly said I was going for TP, which I totally forgot once I got there.
