Red Wolf Run

For as much as I have blogged here in the past about what the phenomenal growth in my area has done to destroy the smallness of my small town, I feel compelled to tell you about this development that I feel is doing things right. Unfortunately, it is *not* in my town, but it is in my state, and maybe, just maybe, folks around here can take a hint from the folks at [tag]Red Wolf Run[/tag].

Red Wolf Run is new development in the [tag]Blue Ridge Mountains[/tag], near [tag]Asheville[/tag]. Nestled in the mountains there, they are working with and for the natural resources instead of against them. The developers have donated to some of the nature preservation groups in Asheville to help ensure that the area retains its natural beauty. In fact, their slogan is “live amid splendor” and the pictures on the site certainly show the magnificence of the area.

The Red Wolf Run Foundation (financed mostly by home sales in this development) is committed to building a habitat for the [tag]red wolf[/tag]. This will be at the Western [tag]North Carolina Nature Center[/tag] in Asheville. Their second focus is on developing a disease resistant strain of the [tag]American Chestnut Tree[/tag]. Both of these species are edging toward extinction, and I commend these efforts at preservation.

To me, this is just a stellar example of responsible development. I’m wishing them much success, and hoping their name becomes pretty much synonymous with real estate Asheville.
