Bells and Whistles
This week has seen alot of changes in [tag]PayPerPost[/tag]. There was a major roll out of new features that took us into Beta 3. It all looks great on the surface, and I am pleased with all the changes, except for the fact that alot of them don’t work, and the ones that are broken are the ones that directly affect the bloggers. I’m a mod on the forums and the other mods and myself have been tied to those forums for 2 days now trying to answer questions and allay concerns. Unfortunately, we don’t have the answers, either. What we do have is experience with PPP and the sure knowledge that they have always fixed things in the past, and that they care about the quality of the PPP experience from both advertiser and blogger sides.
One of the things they have done is to bring out tack scores and bans. They’ve been allowing the advertisers to rate our posts for quite some time now, and that information has been released in this roll out. Many, many of us were upset with bloggers who gave half an effort or less, and had blogs that were not………right. If you’ve seen one, then you know what I mean. Advertisers were getting very angry at wasting money with these types of blogs, and so as bloggers, most of us are pleased that those bloggers are being squeezed into improvement, or squeezed out. I guess that cuts both ways, too. I consider myself a decent blogger, and found out I have been banned by several advertisers myself. I am sure of a couple, because I remember at least 2 posts where the truth as I saw it would not please an advertiser. So be it, I stand by my words. Being paid to advertise on blogs doesn’t make me a a liar.
All that was intro to this next part. Nobody ever said I was too quiet, eh? One feature I was very excited to see is the review my post button. It looks like this:
Man was I excited to see that! It gives you the reader a chance to get paid to give me some feedback, and I get a little money, too. Cool beans, right? I did install the button, and then I tried it out, because I wanted to know exactly what I was asking you guys to do. When I clicked the button, it took me to a sign-up screen for PPP, which I expected. All well and good. I filled it out, clicked the link on the email, and went back to PPP with that new account to “review” myself. (I never intended to fill out the review, I just wanted to see the process). And that’s when I had to take the button down. It told me that user I had created had no approved blogs in the system. Well, d’uh. But because I had no blogs in the system, I couldn’t do the review! I (you) had to wait until a blog was approved. I was so incredibly disappointed! In my opinion, this is a great tool, except that the person who clicks the button ought to be able to do their review right then, not three or four days later. I mean, this is the age of the internet! Who’s gonna come back in 4 days? I really want them to change the way this is set up, and I am hopeful they will. PPP has a history of responsiveness, and I see no reason to believe they will quit listening now.
I want to ask you to do something for me, even those of you dropping by who don’t usually comment. I want your thoughts on this, so I can tell PPP “my readers say……xyz”. Let me know 1)what you think of the concept of the review me button and 2)whether or not you would go back to do the review after so many days had passed. Thanks in advance for that.
