Sittercity

Ya’ll know that DH and I do not get to go out very often. Even going out for a cup of coffee seems to take a presidential pardon ;) So, when I saw Sittercity.com I just had to check it out. I was amazed to find out that they even have sitters in my little town! I searched on my zip code, and got 62 results! Most of them had pictures, and Sittercity.com has even done a background check for me. The sitters also have references you can check, and each one has written a comment to tell you a little about themselves. Each sitter’s rates and availability are indicated on their profile.

You do have to sign up to use the service, but the fee seems reasonable at $7.99 per month, billed annually. I’d think that cost to be well worth having access to this kind of pre-screened sitter. After you sign up, you can also read other parent’s reviews of the sitters.

While I do have an older teen, I think it’s a lot on her to leave all her sibs in her care, and I won’t do it for more than a few minutes. I could use this service to find someone to come in and help her, I think, and then I might be able to eat a whole dinner with my DH. And that? Well, that would be priceless.

It does look like an awesome thing. I wish the had had something like this when my kids were younger. It was so hard finding a sitter for even one night out a month.

That’s nifty.

No one in my zip has a profile that says “I don’t mind if your naked monkey child pees all over me.”

Pity.
