sticks, beads and strings
make wonderful, beautiful things

Oh Ruby, will you be mine?

I’ve been reading quite a bit lately about Ruby on Rails. One of my favorite code monkeys swears by it, and often praises it on his blog. Yeah, I know you are all shocked that I read a geek blog, but….well, I do, and that’s that. More impressive yet is that I actually understand big chunks of it. That’s all to Pete’s credit, and none of mine, LOL!

Today, I have found out there are Ruby on Rails Hosting plans. Blue Box Group offers Ruby on Rails Dedicated and Virtual Servers The Ruby on Rails Dedicated Servers start at $299 per month, which is a very reasonable cost for a business. You’ll get a minimum hardware setup of either dual processor or dual core xeon machines, 2 gigs of ram, and at least 160 gigs of storage for that price. If that’s a little more than you need, you can a virtual server for $75 a month with 512 Megs of ram, 1ghz processing power and 32 gigs of HD space.

As for me, I’m, not yet ready to start programming, nor am I needing quite so much elbow room. But it’s always interesting to me to see something I read about in one place pop up somewhere else.

I never pretended not to be paid, and at least I have enough integrity to sign my real name to what I write. The only pig around here is the one leaving belligerent comments on my blog with a fake name.
