sticks, beads and strings
make wonderful, beautiful things

Here’s hoping

There’s one every year, isn’t there? You already know what I’m talking about, don’t you?? The [tag]Christmas present [/tag]you just wish hadn’t happened. Last year, someone gave DS#2 a toy sword. It was a ninja sword, and it came with numchuks and he was so very excited. And I knew when he opened it that this present was going to be nothing but trouble. I cautioned him most strongly about the sword. And then I let him play with it. And then one of his sibs got poked with the sword, so I put it up. I let him have it back after a few days, and then *I* got poked with it. It’s been living under Dh’s dresser since then. DS still asks for it, and I still say no.

There’s a moral to my story. If your gift recipient happens to be a small child with several siblings and they all happen to live in a 1500 square foot house, swords are probably NOT the best [tag]gift idea[/tag].
