Shatner’s Selections

You know we watch alot of movies here. We have the Blockbuster deal going, and every Tuesday we watch a movie as a family. Then DD#1 and I frequently watch one or two more late at night during the week. Obviously, I did not watch Pay It Forward with the littles, iykwim.

We’ve always been fans of Star Trek as well, so I was intrigued by the DVD Club that bears William Shatner’s name. You pay 49.95 for 15 movies, which is less than $4 a pop. These are not movies that I’ve seen alot of publicity on, but most of them look interesting, and they all have a sci-fi base.

The one that piques my curiosity the most is Close Your Eyes. I think that would be a good flick, and it was reviewed well by Richard Roeper.

While treating a policewoman for smoking, hypnotherapist Michael Strother has a telepathic vision of a young girl floating beneath the surface of a stream. The escaped victim of a ritualistic serial killer, the girl has become mute, and Michael is called upon by Scotland Yard to unlock the secrets she holds in order to catch a man who believes he has discovered the key to immortality.

I don’t think Immortel is for me, but it2i2 and Virus look good. it2i2 is an independent film, a mockumentary exploring what might happen…………never mind, go check it out. The description of Virus reminds me very much of one of Robin Cook’s books, but with an added twist.
