Ordered yarn for Dh’s sweater, but it doesn’t count till I get it from the store. It’s fat stuff and will knit up pretty quick 😉

Do You Like Cotton Candy?

Then this one’s for you!

I am using the top down raglan calculator wheel to do this sweater, and have already found several problems. The number of cast-on stitches leads to a ridiculously large neck. But it tells you to do ribbing right away, which I did not do (note the cowl neck). I’ll have to try it just as written for an experiment, I suppose, before the class in Jan. And the stitch counts are off when you divide. You have to add 3 to each number of body and sleeve stitches to get them right, and this is for every set of numbers on the wheel. Sigh.

The yarn is very nice. 55% cotton, 45% acrylic. Good crisp feel, not nasty at all.

Anyway, look closely, I am using my wonderful-from-Carla stitch markers for the first time. Cool, huh?

I think since my stash numbers look so bad, I will concentrate on finishing balls today. Hopefully dh will have a good call load today, and I can get the cone of cotton I am working on knocked off. That will be 7 balls right there.

Why I Never Get Ahead of my Stash

It’s perfectly innocent, really! I was making great progress, you know. And then I had to buy yarn to finish the cotton squares blanket. Oops, plus 7 balls. And then, tonight, I picked up yarn for a top-down raglan demo. Oops, plus 5 balls.

But did ya catch that?? Another demo=another class!! This one is in January. Yes, I’ll get a pic up on the stash page, probably tomorrow.

The bamboo demo got left in the store tonight. I have one sleeve almost finished, and will use it to demonstrate picking up stitches for the sleeve next week.

So, you see, it really is innocent. Even when I try to avoid new yarn, it hunts me down!

Not alot to Say

I’m stitching, really. I did pick up the rest of the cotton I’ll need last Saturday. If you check the sidebar, you’ll see I am halfway through the squares! My scarf is 40 inches long, and I am only 60, so not much longer on that, either.

As for work, I am almost ready for the short rows on Jill’s pants, and ready to sleeve the bamboo baby. I have class to teach tonight, and I’d like that done. I have the buttons already, too. And the longer I sit here typing, the less stitching I can do :)

It’s been our habit lately, since the weather is so wonderful, to get our chores and math done early, and then head outside. We’ll continue to do that as long as the weather holds. It is so pleasant to sit outside with the children and the fiber.

November’s Dulaan Work

I’ll add any generated scraps to that fourth hat. Sometime this month, I’ll dye up yarn for the 1st set, then start that in December.

Words to Remember

1 Thessalonians 5:
14 Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. 15 And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.

THE MESSAGE

My Mom Totally Rocks!

She read on the bloggity-blog that my nuker was fried, and look what she did:

It’s bigger, faster, and better than the old one. It has automatic everything. It’s awesome, but not as awesome as my mom!

You see the teas on top? It has finally cooled off abit here, and it was time for the monthly Wal-Mart, so I stocked up on teas and stuff to make hot cocoa mixes. There is yet more tea in the freezer 😉

I also saw the coolest digi-cam kit and Dear Santa, I want THAT! It takes movies with sound, has an awesome zoom, and includes a memory card, batteries, charger, bag, everything.

I’m working on the baby demo sweater. One front is done, and I am working on the back.
